History of the Medical Library
The Medical Library now known as E. Latunde Odeku Medical Library, College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, Ibadan, was established in 1966 but moved into the present Medical Library Complex in 1974.
The Library was originally meant to serve the information needs of faculty members of the college of medicine and medical students however, it now serve medical and paramedical staff of the University College Hospital (UCH), staff and students of UCH schools as well as individuals from other institutions across the country.
The Library was in 1989 designated as the National Focal Point (NFP) for Nigeria and the National Medical Library of Nigeria (NML) by the WHO under the auspices of the Federal Ministry of Health.
E. Latunde Odeku Library is an autonomous branch library under the University of Ibadan Library System. The Library is not fully automated yet.
The Medical Library has four professional librarians, three Library Officers, a Systems Analyst and many support staff.
